Position Overview:
We’re seeking personable, professional, and high-energy Bartenders to join our hospitality team. You’ll be a key part of the guest experience—serving our signature brews, mixing craft cocktails, and bringing great vibes behind the bar during regular service and private events.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Experience & Service
- Educate and engage guests on Berg Brewing Co’s diverse beer styles, seasonal brews, cocktail program, and curated food menu—helping them navigate choices and elevating their overall experience through storytelling and product knowledge.
- Mix and serve alcoholic beverages—including craft cocktails, beer, and wine—with precision and consistency, following standard recipes while accommodating guest preferences. Also prepare and present non-alcoholic beverages with the same attention to detail and quality.
- Deliver exceptional hospitality by creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere; anticipate guest needs, provide thoughtful recommendations, and ensure every interaction is positive, memorable, and on-brand.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar environment at all times, ensuring health and safety standards are met while contributing to a visually appealing and efficient workspace.
- Engage with guests during slower moments, offering samples, sharing product insights, or creating small moments of connection that build loyalty and keep guests coming back.
- Handle guest concerns or complaints with professionalism and urgency, ensuring every issue is resolved quickly and positively.
Product Knowledge
- Develop and demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Berg Brewing Co’s beer portfolio, including beer styles, brewing processes, flavor profiles, and food pairings. Be able to guide guests through tastings and help them discover beers that match their preferences.
- Maintain an expert-level understanding of cocktail recipes, mixology techniques, and proper presentation of both classic and contemporary drinks. Stay on top of current and emerging trends in the cocktail world, including seasonal ingredients, craft spirits, and unique garnishes.
- Possess a strong foundational knowledge of spirits, wine varietals, and mixers—understanding how to balance flavors and create exceptional guest experiences through beverage service.
- Proactively seek opportunities to deepen product knowledge through team tastings, staff training sessions, industry research, and guest feedback.
- Share insights and recommendations with management to help shape seasonal cocktail menus and improve overall beverage offerings.
Event Support
- Bartend during private parties, weddings, and special events hosted at the brewery.
- Coordinate with the events and service teams to ensure smooth bar operations for each function.
- Assist with event setup and breakdown as needed.
Inventory & Operations
- Restock and organize all bar supplies, including beer, liquor, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and tools—ensuring proper rotation of inventory to maintain freshness, consistency, and minimize waste.
- Monitor inventory levels daily, proactively communicating low stock or supply needs to management to avoid service disruptions and maintain seamless bar operations.
- Maintain exceptional cleanliness and sanitation standards across all bar areas, following health codes and brewery policies—this includes wiping down surfaces, washing glassware, and ensuring all equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
- Adhere to all responsible alcohol service protocols, including checking IDs, managing over-service risks, and ensuring compliance with state and local laws as well as RAMP guidelines.
- Accurately process cash, credit, and point-of-sale (POS) transactions, balancing speed with precision, and ensuring all tabs are closed out correctly at the end of each shift.
- Assist with opening and closing duties for the bar area, including setup, breakdown, daily cleaning checklists, and reconciling sales reports as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of bartending experience in a bar, brewery, restaurant, or event venue.
- Must meet all Pennsylvania legal requirements for alcohol service, including current RAMP (Responsible Alcohol Management Program) certification or the ability and willingness to obtain it prior to employment.
- Strong customer service skills with a warm, engaging presence behind the bar.
- Excellent working knowledge of cocktail recipes, spirits, wine, and beer styles.
- Ability to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Must be 21+ with evening, weekend, and event availability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of beer styles, brewing processes, and beer culture, with a genuine passion for craft beer and the ability to share that passion with guests.
- Experience bartending for weddings or large events.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage guests, upsell offerings, and contribute to a welcoming, high-energy atmosphere.
- A natural storyteller and enthusiastic brand ambassador who can educate guests while enhancing the overall experience.
- Previous experience in a brewery or craft-focused bar is a plus, but not required.
